(B) Wild-type (WT) and sam37Δ cells were grown at 23°C, and mitochondria were isolated. ³⁵S-labeled Tom22 was imported at 25° for the indicated times and analyzed by blue native electrophoresis and digital autoradiography. The asterisk indicates the low molecular weight form of the Tom22 assembly pathway. (C) Import of the ³⁵S-labeled Tom40 precursor was performed as described for B. (D) The experiment was performed as outlined for B, but the ³⁵S-labeled precursors of Tom20 (top) and Tom70 (bottom) were imported into isolated mitochondria.
