Cytotoxic activity of TIL from line 1/PSA tumors. Nontransgenic (A and C) and transgenic (B and D) mice were injected in the hind flank i.m. with 2 × 10⁴ line 1/PSA cells. Tumors were allowed to grow for 20 days, and TIL were isolated and used as effector cells in a 6-hr ⁵¹Cr-release assay. Targets were line 1 (▪) and line 1/PSA (•) induced to express class I with dimethyl sulfoxide as described previously (24). The results of two independent experiments (A and B, C and D) are shown. Because the animals are not inbred, individual mice were analyzed to avoid problems due to alloreactivity that would occur if T cells of different major histocompatibility complex types were mixed together.
