ParR (100 ng), ParM (100 ng), and/or RNA polymerase (125 ng) were bound to 100 ng supercoiled or linearized pMD330 DNA (wt parC), pAB1922 (parC22), or pMD333 DNA (parC33) and prepared for electron microscopy. The frequencies of protein-bound DNA molecules present in paired structures or higher-order-complexes were determined by counting randomly selected fields.
