Mouse DRG lipids were extracted by a modified Bligh and Dyer procedure and the sphingolipid molecular species in the lipid extracts were identified and quantified using a 2D ESI/MS technique as described under Materials and methods. The results are expressed in nmol/mg of protein (except for ceramide in which data are expressed in pmol/mg of protein) and represent X ± SD of six different animals.
