Mouse DRG lipids were extracted by a modified Bligh and Dyer procedure and the phospholipid molecular species in the lipid extracts were identified and quantified using a 2D ESI/MS technique as described under Materials and methods. The results are expressed in nmol/mg of protein and represent X ± SD of six different animals.

‘d’ (diacyl), ‘p’ (plasmenyl), and ‘a’ (alkyl) denote the three subclasses (i.e. phosphatidyl-, plasmenyl-, and plasmanyl-), respectively, in the classes of GPCho, GPEtn, and GPSer. DRG, dorsal root ganglia; WT, wild type; ApoE, apolipoprotein E; KO, knockout; DA, presence of a detectable ion peak.
