mlc1Δ spores have defects in cell separation. Strains JGY46 and RSY105(pRS289) were sporulated and tetrads were dissected. After 24 h, spores were characterized into classes: (1) germinated and formed colonies, (2) germinated and did not form colonies, or (3) did not germinate. Examples of each class are shown (A). 200 spores from each strain were classified (B). Germinated spores from RSY105(pRS289) were stained with DAPI. Elongated spores with DAPI staining are shown (C).
