RacE null cells have a normal content of F-actin in attached and suspension conditions. Cells were fixed, attached, or in suspension conditions and their F-actin content was determined. RacE null cells (open bars) have F-actin levels comparable to those of wild-type cells (hatched bars) under both conditions. Interestingly, the level of F-actin is much lower in cells grown in suspension culture. The ordinate represents the units of rhodamine–phalloidin fluorescence (×10⁻⁷) divided by the protein concentration of each sample (mg/ml). Bars indicate the mean ± standard deviation of three measurements.
