Model for VV egress. IMV produced in cytoplasmic factories are transported on microtubules to sites of wrapping by a double layer of membrane from the trans-Golgi or early endosomal membranes to form IEV. IEV particles are then transported by microtubules to the cell surface where the outer membrane fuses with the plasma membrane forming CEV. Actin tails are formed beneath CEV particles. EEV may be released either before or after actin tail formation.
