Figure 1. — Isolation of mitochondrial and cytoplasmic cellular fractions. 10C9 cells were fractionated into mitochondrial (M) and cytoplasmic (C) fractions by differential centrifugation. Equal amounts of each fraction were electrophoresed, and the relative levels of cytochrome c (left), cytochrome oxidase subunit IV (COX; middle), and SOD1 (right) in each fraction were determined by immunoblotting. Molecular weights are indicated on the left. The results are representative of one of three separate experiments.
