Relative Spectral Sensitivities to 500-nm light

600 nm 652 nm 676 nm Average
RhEQ / RhEQ (n = 10) (3.79 ± 0.24) × 10−3 (5.71 ± 0.56) × 10−5 (9.05 ± 0.81) × 10−6
mG/mG (n = 11) (7.86 ± 0.28) × 10−2 (2.63 ± 0.10) × 10−3 (5.09 ± 0.22) × 10−4
RhEQ /mG (n = 14) (7.12 ± 0.52) × 10−3 (1.73 ± 0.15) × 10−4 (2.51 ± 0.27) × 10−5
gmG/gEQ (n = 14) 0.42 ± 0.07 0.44 ± 0.06 0.30 ± 0.05 0.39 ± 0.05

Values are means ± SEM. Sensitivities at 600, 652, and 676 nm relative to that at 500 nm were calculated from the data obtained by single cell recordings. Spectral sensitivities (pA photons−1 μm2) at each wavelength (500, 600, 652, and 676 nm) were estimated by dividing the amplitude of the dim flash response (pA) by the flash intensity (photons μm−2). Relative spectral sensitivites to 500-nm light were calculated by dividing flash sensitivities at each wavelength (600, 652, and 676 nm) by the flash sensitivity at 500 nm. gmG/gEQ represents the ratio of the amplitude of the elementary response of mouse green to that of E122Q rhodopsin, which was calculated from Eq. 9.
