Transcript accumulations of maize homologs of RDR2 and VAP in the shoot apical meristem (SAM), inflorescence meristems, and leaf primordia. Fourteen-day-old maize shoot apices were analyzed by in situ hybridization using antisense probes prepared from maize homologs of RDR2 (a–d) and VAP (g, h) cDNA clones. A 21-day-old ear inflorescence apex (e) and a 28-day-old bolting tassel inflorescence (f) were also analyzed for the RDR2 homolog.
