Fusion rate increases when SNARE proteins are present in the bilayers, with and without compression. However, according to Eq. 1, the rate increases exponentially with applied compression force. Using Eq. 1, rate values were derived in the absence (dotted line) and presence (solid line) of cognate v- and t-SNAREs in the opposite bilayers. The derived values were plotted against the corresponding compression force.
