AFM Image of E. coli D21e7 lawn immobilized on glass surface. Cells were harvested in mid-exponential phase, fixed with glutaraldehyde, and adsorbed onto PEI-coated glass. A 10- × 10-μm scan was performed in 1 mM Tris using the long thin cantilever at a scan rate of 15.26 Hz.
