XylE activities of Pcap5::xylE transcriptional fusion. Strains CYL6619, CYL6620, and CYL6621 are ΔsbcC, ΔsbcD, and ΔsbcDC deletion mutants, respectively. The complementation of CYL6619 and CYL6620 by pZC3624 (not shown) resulted in values similar to those obtained by complementation of CYL6621(pZC3624). The XylE activities are expressed as the ratio of A₃₇₅ of the enzymatic reaction to the OD₆₆₀ of the culture. The error bars indicate standard deviations of at least three independent experiments.
