Viral DNA was extracted from various organs of mice infected with HIV-1JRCSF (33 days postinfection), HIV-1MNp (59 days postinfection), and HIV-1NL4-3 (60 days postinfection). Determination of HIV-1 DNA copy numbers was performed by real-time PCR assay as previously described (22).
