Experiments were done in the presence and absence of luminal Cl− and HCO3−. Values represent mean ± s.e.m.n = 6. DIDS (100 μm) was added to the mucosal side in luminal Cl−-containing experiments and HCO3− secretion compared to luminal Cl−-free experiments.
P < 0.001, comparison between presence and absence of luminal Cl− on HCO3− secretion.
P < 0.001, comparison between luminal Cl−-free and luminal addition of NPPB on Cl−-independent HCO3− secretion.
P < 0.001, comparison between luminal Cl−-free and luminal addition of glibencalmide on Cl−-independent HCO3− secretion.
P < 0.01, comparison between anti-CD3 and normal mice. ns = no significant difference between the groups.
