(A) Southern blot analysis of DNA from mice obtained by intercross breeding of heterozygous Sl^KL2/+ mice. Blots containing DNA digested with BglII were hybridized with the probe indicated in Fig. 1. The approximate size of normal and mutant fragments is 7 and 13 kb, respectively. (B) Expression of KL-1 and KL-2 transcripts in tissues of +/+ and Sl^KL2/Sl^KL2 mice determined by RNase protection assay. Fifty micrograms of total RNA isolated from various tissues was hybridized with a 700-nt ^32-P-labeled antisense probe. Protected fragments for KL-1 and KL-2 are 638 and 449 nt, respectively.
