Cytosolic calcium concentration of untreated, RA- and RA/EDTA-treated growth plate chondrocytes. After growth plate chondrocytes isolated from 19-d chick embryonic tibia reached confluency, the cells were cultured in the absence or presence of 35 nM RA, or RA and 5 mM EDTA for 1 d. The cytosolic calcium concentration, [Ca²⁺]_i, of chondrocytes was measured using fura-2AM as described in Materials and methods.
