The effects of selected synthetic and endogenous compounds on PPARα-mediated transcriptional activity. HeLa cells were transiently co-transfected with PPARα and the PPRE-luc reporter gene constructs. Thereafter the cells were exposed to ligands overnight and the generation of luciferase estimated using a commercial luminometry kit. With the exception of WIN 55212-2 (WIN, 1 μM), ligands were present at 10 μM.
