Luminal deletion constructs are no longer excluded from the nuclear envelope. COS cells were transiently transfected with GFP-Δcytoplasmic (A–F), GFP-Δcytoplasmic-Δ218–601 (G–I), GFP-Δcytoplasmic-Δ246–492 (J–L), and GFP-Δcytoplasmic-Δ132–354 (M–O). 48 h after transfection, the cells were fixed and stained with mAb against the ER marker BAP31 (B, E, H, K, and N). Colocalization of the GFP-fusions with BAP31 is apparent in the merger images (C, F, I, L, and O). Note the concentrated ER in (D–F) and (J–L).
