Analysis of Ly49A expression in MHC different, Ly49A transgenic mice. Gated NK1.1⁺ CD3⁻ splenocytes from transgenic line No. 2 (A), or transgenic line No. 12 (B) of the indicated MHC types were compared with nontransgenic littermates after staining with Ly49A-specific mAb JR9-318. In nontransgenic mice, Ly49A is expressed on an NK cell subset, the size of which is usually smallest in H-2^d mice (see also reference 12), whereas all transgenic NK cells express Ly49A. The frequency of stained cells and the mean fluorescence intensity (in parentheses) are indicated.
