Uninjured nerve explants were cultured for 12 h with CM (10% vol/ vol) from lipopolysaccharide-stimulated macrophages or recombinant growth factors. mRNA expression levels were determined by RTPCR and quantified as described in the legend to Fig. 2 B. Values are expressed as fold induction, which is the ratio of transcript levels in duplicate mRNA samples from treated cultures to that in untreated cultures; Values represent the mean ± range of two experiments.
