Glutamate-resistant clones 8 and 15 acquire glutamate sensitivity after transfection with full-length eIF2α. Wild-type HT22 cells and glutamate-resistant clones 8 and 15 were stably transfected with an expression construct of eIF2α. (A) The wild-type HT22 cells were unaffected by transfection of eIF2α. (B and C) Resistant clones 8 and 15 when transfected with the eIF2α construct became glutamate sensitive as detected by the MTT assay after 24 h of exposure to 2, 5, and 10 mM glutamate. Samples were measured in triplicate (n = 3).
