Reconstitution of Synechocystis GS inactivation in vitro. (A) SDS/PAGE (15%) of purified GS, IF17, and IF7 proteins. Lanes: 1, 2 μg of purified GS; 2, 1 μg of purified IF17; 3, 1 μg of purified IF7. Synechocystis GS (2.25 μg) was incubated with increasing quantities of IF7 (B) and IF17 (C) in a final volume of 20 μl. Inactive GS-IF complexes were allowed to form during 5 min, and GS transferase activity was determined. One hundred percent activity corresponds to 0.4 unit of GS.
