Rotation of a superfluid is not uniform but takes place via a lattice of quantized vortices, whose cores (yellow) are parallel to the axis of rotation. Small arrows indicate the circulation of the superfluid velocity vs around each singularity. The vortex array rotates rigidly with the container. The nearly hexagonal pattern of vortices applies to 3He-B and 4He.
