RT-PCR products spanning the entire coding region of Bin1 mRNA (7) were subcloned, and their DNA sequence was determined and compared with wild-type Bin1. For comparison, the last column presents the relative level of susceptibility of each cell line to programmed cell death by ectopic nonneuronal Bin1 isoform, illustrating the approximate correlation between relative level of the 12A splice isoform and susceptibility to death by ectopic Bin1. WT, wild type; Met, metastatic melanoma; muts, mutations; ND, not determined.
As detected by RT-PCR.
Aberrant 3′ splice product detected by RT-PCR but not by Northern blot analysis.
Metastatic derivative of WM983A.
