Data are presented for the combined age groups of each strain, as well as for each age group separately. The left ventricular (LV) myocardial volume measured by MRI, for each individual rat, was taken from the average value from all the time points sampled in the cardiac cycle. The functional cardiac parameters were established from the transverse cardiac sections. Values quoted are the means and the standard error of the mean (s.e.m.).
