Catalase, which rapidly converts H2O2 to H2O, inhibits activation of Cl SAC by integrin stretch. I–V relationships before (•) and after (○) 6 min of integrin stretch in the presence of 1,000 U/ml extracellular catalase, and after a 5-min washout of catalase with continued integrin stretch (□). At +40 mV, integrin stretch in the presence of catalase did not significantly activate Cl SAC; the Cl SAC elicited was 17 ± 7% (n = 4; P = 0.393) of that in the same cell after washout of catalase.
