Voltage-dependent block by Y3+. (A) Currents evoked by moderate depolarizations, recorded before Y3+ (left), in 1 μM Y3+ (middle), and following washout (right). Voltage steps were from −80 to +20 mV, in 20-mV increments. The voltage protocol is shown below the record in Y3+. The Y3+-insensitive transient outward currents at the beginning of the step are gating currents (Burgess et al., 2002); off gating currents are not visible, since channel closing (at −100 mV) is much slower than opening (at +20 mV). 2 kHz Gaussian filter.
