CHO-K1 cells were infected with the (Ad5RSV-p16) adenoviral vector (50 m.o.i., in serum-free EMEM). 48 h after infection, cells were either kept in normal medium or treated with 200 mM sucrose for 12 h. (B) CHO-K1 cells were preincubated in EMEM alone or supplemented with 20 mM 3-ATA for 4 h and then incubated for 12 h with no treatment or in the presence of 200 mM sucrose. In all cases, results are the mean ± SEM of quadruplicate measurements made on four independent cell cultures. Statistical significance using the Student's t test: *, P < 0.05; **, P < 0.01 sucrose versus no treatment.
