Theoretical predictions of the distribution of microglia in a lane five cells wide that gave a Ca2 +  response, with an amplitude greater than 15% of maximum, following excitation of a single microglial cell at three different sites along the length of the lane, indicated by filled circles (∙). The dots indicate the positions of microglia in the lane. The diamonds (⋄) indicate microglia that gave a response following stimulation of the microglia near the left-hand end of the lane (sixth cell from the left at − 250 Inline graphic), the open circles (∘) responses following stimulation of the microglia near the right-hand end of the lane (sixth cell from the right at 250 Inline graphic) and the plusses (+) microglia in the centre of the lane (at 0 Inline graphic). (A longer lane (800 Inline graphic) has been used for this calculation.) The KR values range from 25 to 45 μM for different microglia across each lane. Note that there is no overlap in the Ca2 +  wave domains of each stimulated microglial cell, the diamonds, crosses and circles designating discrete regions
