aCPS and mCPS pulse/chase experiments. aCPS or mCPS subunits N or C were incubated with [γ-³²P]ATP and then desalted into a solution containing either subunit N or C (e.g., NN: subunit N in the pulse solution, subunit N in the chase solution). The reaction products were separated by paper chromatography and amounts of labeled CP (black bars) and P_i (white bars) were determined by densitometric analysis.
