Guanidine resistance was measured as previously described (7). Cells were treated with 2 mM nucleoside analogue prior to infection as described in the text. Monolayers were infected with 1 × 106 PFU of PV and incubated in the presence of 3 mM guanidine hydrochloride, and the number of plaques was determined 3 days later via crystal violet staining. Data are presented as means ± standard deviations from 3 independent samples For JA30, n = 2 and standard deviation was not calculated.
