The killing of E. coli ML35 and C. albicans was measured by incubating increasing concentrations of RTD 1-3 with log-phase organisms in 10 mM PIPES, pH 7.4, with 1.2 mM CaCl2 and 0.8 mM MgCl2 or in 10 mM PIPES lacking added divalent salts.
