Model for Tbx5 relocalization between nuclear and cytoplasmic compartments. Tbx5 can interact with CRM1 to be exported across the nuclear membrane into the cytoplasm, where the proteins dissociate. CRM1 will return to the nucleus while Tbx5 is now free to interact with LMP4 and localize to the actin cytoskeleton. Tbx5 is also then able to return to the nucleus in order to regulate target gene activity, completing the dynamic shuttling between the two cellular compartments.
