Liposome-mediated OVA uptake by APCs. Uptake (black columns) and adsorption (grey columns) of OVA by different cell populations in the spleen determined by flow cytometry after stimulation with 20 μg/ml OVA-AlexaFluor488 with or without DDA liposomes for 30 min at 37°. Adsorption was determined as the difference in MFI values between cells washed in PBS and ethanoic acid buffer. Cell subsets were defined according to their forward-side scatter profile and their expression of CD11c⁺ (Dendritic cells), F4/80⁺ CD11c⁻ (Macrophages), CD19⁺ (B cells) or CD3⁺ CD4⁺ (T cells).
