Contributions of AMPARs and NMDARs to responses of sustained units depend on first-spike latency. Across the entire sample of sustained units, both NBQX and CPP reduced spikes substantially (All Sustained Units). For short-latency units, both NBQX and CPP effectively reduced spikes, but NBQX had a significantly stronger effect. For long-latency units, CPP reduced spikes very effectively, whereas NBQX was ineffective in reducing spikes. See Figure 5 for protocol.
