Two strategies to target HIV-1 by oligomannose dendrons. (a) These glycodendrons can be conjugated to carrier proteins and serve as vaccines. (b) HIV-1 can bind dendritic cell-surface DC-SIGN or other mannose-binding proteins to enhance CD4+ T cell infection.
