Records showing changes in fura-2FF and Rh123 from a neuron (at 7 DIV) exposed to 100 μM glutamate (and 10 μM glycine) followed by addition of the NO donor potassium nitrosylpentachloruthenate (500 μM; open bar). The addition of the NO in the presence of glutamate caused a large mitochondrial depolarisation which was followed by a secondary large rise in [Ca2+]c. Rh123 fluorescence is shown normalised to baseline (F/F0).
