Experiments were carried out in ICM-citrate. Addition of FCCP (1 μM) and oligomycin (2.5 μg ml⁻¹) was followed by a transient fall in [Ca²⁺]_L (*) and either stopped the [Ca²⁺]_L oscillations induced by InsP₃ (1 μM) (A) or caused the oscillation frequency to increase (B). InsP₃ (3 μM) was added at the end of the experiments to verify the responsiveness of the preparations.
