Rise times were calculated from the rising phase of currents evoked by voltage steps from −70 to 0 mV. Rise times differ significantly between Zn²⁺ and Ca²⁺ currents at pH 7.4 (P < 0.05, Student's t test) but not between Zn²⁺ currents at pH 7.4 and 6.4.
