Simulation studies show the chance of QTL detection in an F₂ population. The starting point is an F₂ population with properties identical to the in vivo practical F₂ population data set, “default settings” (Jeuken and Lindhout 2002). The effects of five parameters on the starting-point F₂ population are presented. Visually, the starting point is the middle point where all lines come together. Parameters of starting-point: F₂ size = 126, genotype frequency homozygous L. saligna = 0.25, marker distance to QTL = 5 cM, number of QTLs explaining the trait = 7.
