For all the decoy sets analyzed (Park and Levitt 1996; Park et al. 1997; Simons et al. 1997; Samudrala and Levitt 2000), a very good correlation is observed between ZE scores obtained using the 21 × 21 interaction scheme (UDO–21) and the ZE scores calculated after applying the spherical harmonic synthesis (SHS) method (UDO–21s). In fact, the ZE scores obtained using UDO–21s are marginally better (i.e., more negative).
