Settings are from the ARDSNet trial.19 The required FiO2 is the lowest value that maintains arterial oxyhemoglobin saturation above 90%. After the corresponding level of PEEP is selected, arterial oxyhemoglobin saturation and plateau airway pressure should be monitored in the patient.
