Improvement in coverage by multiple-experiment plans for FGF-2. Sets of experiments were planned by XlinkPlan, choosing for each experiment a cross-linker from among five commercially available reagents (dashed line) or choosing both a cross-linker and a possible conservative mutation to Lys (solid line). Sets of up to five experiments were planned for the former case, saturating the possibilities of cross-linker choice, whereas sets of up to eight were planned for the latter case, which includes mutations. The coverage was determined for each plan, at different choices for discriminability Δ. The set of eight experiments selected with choice of mutation at Δ = 12 is listed in Table 2.
