The data were obtained from 3 muscle fibres (shown by different symbols and including the fibre shown in Fig. 4) under sarcomere length feedback control. Amplitudes for 6 °C were obtained by averaging tension before the T-jump in each fibre. The line is a third-order polynomial fit through all data. Fibre dimensions: 2.06 mm × 4420 μm2, sarcomere length 2.4 μm; 1.96 mm × 5030 μm2, sarcomere length 2.44 μm; 2.16 mm × 5030 μm2, sarcomere length 2.42 μm.
