A, NTS microinjection of α,β-methylene ATP, a P2X receptor agonist, produced a transient bradycardia. Once HR returned to baseline, the bradycardia evoked reflexly by CN stimulation of the chemoreceptors was significantly potentiated. This effect returned to control values after 10–15 min.
