^a Tissue samples were incubated at 37°C for 3 h in RIPA buffer containing protease inhibitors, then assayed with the Protease Screening Kit for determination of protease activity. Absorbance was measured at λ_max 574 nm. Higher levels of absorbance indicate higher levels of protease activity in the sample.
