Survival after P. aeruginosa 1244 challenge following immunization with pili in the acute-pneumonia model. Mice exhibited significantly increased survival when they were immunized i.n./i.n. or i.n./s.c. with strain 1244 pili compared to the survival of mice immunized with saline (control) following i.n. administration of a lethal dose of P. aeruginosa 1244. Results are shown as Kaplan-Meier survival curves, and differences in survival were calculated by log rank analysis.
