Comparison of adrenaline and α or β receptor agonist effects on the nitric oxide response of macrophages to LPS. Murine peritoneal macrophages (10⁵) were cultured with either medium alone, LPS alone (10 µg/ml), or LPS in the presence or absence of either adrenaline, isoprenaline, salbutamol, or phenylephrine. After 48 hr culture supernatants were harvested and nitrite levels determined by the Griess reaction. Results are expressed as mean ±SEM and are representative of two similar experiments.
